 WHAT IS NETWORKING?

 The collection of interconnected computers  is known as networking.



 TYPES OF NETWORK?

-LAN(Local Area Network)

-PAN(Personal Area Network)

-MAN(Metropolitan Area Network)

-WAN(Wide Area Network)


NETWORKING DEVICES:-

-Node/Workstation/Client:- Individual computer in a network.


-Server:- Main computer in a network.

-Hub:- Device used to connect 25-30 computers together. Hub is an broadcast device.


-Switch:- Device used to connect 80-100 computers together. Switch is an unicast device.


-Bridge:- Device used to connect two similar networks(topologies).


-Router:- Device used to connect dissimilar networks (topologies).


-Gateway:- Gateway is a "Backbone Of Networks".


-Repeater:- Device that is used when distance between two computers is more than 70 metres.


-Modem:- used to provide internet facility to the network.
